We've been working at the house every weekend since we got the keys and it is still far from being finished. Heck, it seems we've barely done anything. And although we both know that this is not true last weekend was difficult for both of us. It's been a very rainy week and the weather really does affect your mood so much, especially when you are working in a non-heated house! What a difference the sun makes.
But amongst all of the doom and gloom of the never-ending demolition we seem to be doing (the ceilings are next, but I'll leave that for another post) is the positive thought that the next few weeks should really move the project forward. Master Max will be arriving next week to help us with rewiring and once thats done we've got the energy company booked in on March 1st to move the electricity meter finally allowing us to tear down the little wall next to the front living room windows. Can't wait.. :o) But the most exciting thing is that once all of these projects have been completed our plasterer of choice will be coming in to skim the entire house. And what a difference that will make! From there we can paint the walls and start laying down new floorboards upstairs. Hopefully this will be around Eastertime. Then it will be fitting the new bathroom, putting up a few tiles and we'll be able to move in! I hate to make predictions in a DIY project, as it always takes longer than you think, but fingers crossed I'm hoping to move in by...actually I better not say. Anyway, if any of you would like to lend a hand and collect your DIY Superhero title over the Easter weekend do give us a shout.
I can understand how depressing the work is when the weather is cold and damp. As your Grandmother would say, "when you get to the end of your rope, tie a knot and hang on!"
