Two ceilings to go please!

No problem, how would you like that wrapped? Would 30 rubble sacks be ok?

Oh yes! February 20-21 was Kick-In-Your-Ceiling Weekend, sorry if you didn't know and missed out on the fun. We finally made the decision to go ahead and replace the ceilings in the kitchen and lounge following another visit from our plasterer. There were a number of holes and cracks in the ceilings already, and they didn't look too good from the top either. 80 years worth of dust are more than even the best vacuum cleaner can handle. So we cleared the floors below, got out our goggles and face masks and got to work lifting a couple of floorboards at a time and then kicking down the plaster from the joists.Getting it down was pretty easy and quick. Clearing up the ensuing rubble less so. We collected all the laths (wooden slats) then swept up all the plaster. I'm glad we had the breathing masks, as they were blackened by all the dust. Better them than my lungs I say. It took us all day to complete the task, interrupted only by a visit to Homebase for more rubble sacks.
